Do Yoga for Little Lily LaRue on Saturday
Talk about grateful. We at PFY are honored and privileged to host a fundraiser class for Lily LaRue Anderson this Saturday, Nov. 29 from 4 to 5 p.m. at PFY Wayne. This beautiful first grader from Wayne has a cancerous tumor buried deep inside her brain stem. It is inoperable. It is incurable. She was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomain (DIPG) in May and given 3 to 7 months to live. Today, her mom says, “Lily is a rockstar. Her energy and light is full force.”
This 6-year-old girl takes 20 pills a day and travels to Maryland every three weeks for trial therapy at the National Institutes of Health. She hopes she will be able to run, play and go to school again soon. When she can’t in class, a toy monkey named Jake sits in her chair so her friends will know she’s away being treated, and she is okay.
That’s why her family needs our help. The money from Saturday’s donation class, taught by Andrea Scaramelli, will go to the family of five’s travel, living and medical expenses. Lily has a twin brother, Brady, and older sister, Jasmine. Every week, sometimes more, Lily treks to oncologists around New Jersey and Maryland. Lily’s mom and dad are not working while they surge forward through this ordeal. They want to spend as much time together as possible. They are fighting for her life and for precious time. And they would not be able to have these moments without the generousity of the community.
Lily’s mom, Barbara Anderson, told me that the family “need more light, less dark.” We hope PFY can add a little bit of hope–and money–to ease their challenges. Lily is vibrant right now, sharp and able to enjoy life. Her mother is searching far and wide for healing for her daughter. “We are grateful you found us and reached out,” Barbara said, especially thanking Wayne’s studio manager Jess Ernst. “I will never be able to explain how much this means.”
We are so incredibly grateful. Let’s do yoga for little Lily LaRue.
