Your Retreat Leaders
Katie Olson has been practicing yoga since 2011, when she was first introduced to the practice during her senior year of college. Looking for a way to manage her stress, she began her exploration into the world of yoga, and as a former dancer/cheerleader, she was naturally drawn to the physicality of the practice and how it made her feel. However, it was the inner transformation that she couldn’t help but notice too, that kept her coming back to her mat, and ultimately what made her want to become a teacher.
Katie has been sharing the gift of yoga all across New Jersey since 2018, and has completed over 500 hours of training. She will also be taking on the role of manager of our Morristown studio in the new year. She has run workshops and yoga retreats both in NJ and abroad, and is a Level II Reiki Practitioner. Her desire to share the gift of yoga with others comes from the profound transformation she has experienced through her own practice over the years, not just physically but mentally and spiritually as well. Katie’s personal belief is that yoga is for everybody, and strives to teach classes that are upbeat and challenging, but also fun, educational, and accessible to all. Her greatest desire as a teacher is that her students feel like they have stepped into their own personal power in class, and that they carry that power with them off of their mat.
Kristina Carnevale is a certified yoga instructor with over 500 hours of training. She was an athlete in high school playing softball and basketball. In 2014 she started her yoga journey with her brother. A group of friends would gather on a weekly basis and practice. After a few years, Kristina and her brother made the decision to obtain their yoga certification. Her intentions were to deepen her practice, which then led to her diving into this profession full time.
Yoga has become the best compliment to her activities that now include rock climbing, biking and hiking. She believes that movement is the best medicine. In her classes, you can expect for her queuing to be clear and concise. She prioritizes alignment through her teaching practice. Turn on your listening so that you can focus on the sensations in your body. She encourages you to take a child’s pose and/or chaturanga when needed. Her philosophy is that you are your own best teacher. Take what you need and leave the rest.
Her certifications include Vinyasa, Yin, Power, Restorative, Deep Stretch and Mobility. Additionally, Kristina is certified in one on one stretch therapy as well as Thai massage. Be prepared for hands on assists and feel good adjustments.
